We were very fortunate because the slide created a weak blockage that the already fast flowing river cut-through relatively quickly. This preventing a large build up of water behind the debris-dam, which could have created a much larger surge when it broke.

The curved edge of the bridge crash barrier that you can see in several photos, has been pushed from the other side of the river and from the downstream side of the bridge.. In the picture above, the upstream barrier is in the river.

The tarmac and bed of the bridge have been lifted about 4-5 inches.
